About Sarawak Science Centre

The Sarawak Science Centre is an upcoming interactive science hub in Kuching that invites everyone to explore science, technology, and the natural world through hands-on exhibits, experiments, and creative learning experiences.
SSCiEX is the short form for Sarawak Science Centre Interactive Experience. It highlights the interactive and hands-on nature of the experiences offered at the Sarawak Science Centre.
The Centre is located at Jalan Stadium, Petra Jaya, Kuching, next to the Sarawak Stadium area.

The Sarawak Science Centre is scheduled to open on 29 July 2026.

Boyen and Boyak are the official mascots of the Sarawak Science Centre. Boyen is an orange cat who loves exploring and asking questions. Boyak is a crocodile who represents Sarawak's natural heritage. You will find them at the Centre and across our official channels.
The Sarawak Science Centre is managed by the Sarawak Research and Development Council (SRDC) under the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak (MEITD).

Personal photography and short videos are allowed in most areas. Tripods, lighting equipment, and commercial filming require written approval from the Sarawak Science Centre.

The Maker Space is a dedicated hands-on creative zone where visitors can build, design, and experiment. It is open to all age groups. Rules, age guidelines, and facilitation details will be available on-site and online. Information will be provided.
Yes. Hand sanitiser stations will be available throughout the Centre. High-contact exhibit surfaces are cleaned regularly as part of daily operations.

No. Food and drinks are not allowed in the exhibition halls. You may enjoy them at the café and designated dining areas.

A minimum lead time of four weeks is recommended to confirm scheduling, materials, and facilitators. Bookings closer to the date may be accommodated depending on availability.

Accessibility and Inclusion

Yes. The building will include ramps, lifts, and accessible facilities for visitors with disabilities.

Yes. Prayer rooms, nursing rooms, and family-friendly spaces will be provided. Locations and usage guidelines will be made available on-site and online.

Visitors may inform the Sarawak Science Centre in advance about mobility, sensory, or learning needs. The team will try to adjust facilitation, routes, and timing where possible.

Yes. Strollers and prams are welcome. The Centre is designed to be accessible for families with young children.
Yes. Report lost items to the nearest staff member or the information counter. Items will be held for a reasonable period before disposal or handover to the relevant authority.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Staff are trained to assist if a child is found unaccompanied and will follow the Centre's safeguarding procedures.
